Okay,
I admit it. We're dinosaurs. Born and raised in the Stones Age, when
black-and-white TV broadcast six or seven hours a day and music played
on 45 rpm vinyl singles.
The RCA camera pictured left (circa 1963) weighed 200kg.
Check out the lighting grid. Giant incandescent globes, about 15KVA.
They burned ~30 hours, hot as hell, and turned orange in a hurry.
The point of discussing this is to emphasize an important principle of
modern digital video production, music recording and live shows.
Not much has changed.
To get a smooth, steady dolly shot, you still need heavy grip stuff or
a fabulously accurate remote-control Looma crane. Concert lighting is
heavy and hot. Recording and mixing work best in a big room with
baffles, amp chambers, large diaphram mics, precise Neve EQ.
We employ professionals whose expertise was acquired over many years of
experience. We pay premium rates for studio facilities.
So, if you're offered a production deal, it's in recognition of
commercial
potential. We can't guarantee a hit record. But we will
gamble big time on your success and do everything in
our power to
make it happen.
